Wedding Officiating

Beth Koehler officiating wedding of two womenMany couples are looking to get married in a more non-traditional manner. Whether engaged couples are getting married at resorts, hotels, backyards or in the outdoors, they are in search of a more personal ceremony which reflects their unique relationship as well as their shared beliefs and values. The couple may have different religious or cultural backgrounds yet share a common spirituality. Because of this, the demand for independent, non-denominational wedding officiants is growing.

I became a marriage officiant to positively affect other people’s lives. I offer my time, experience, energy and passion to make your wedding-day magical, personal and memorable.

If you need guidance, I have sample ceremonies for you to choose from. I can also help you with your vows. You can choose readings and music to enhance the day.

celtic handfasting at weddingTo personalize the ceremony, I will send you a questionnaire beforehand and then write a story about the life of your relationship.

Many couples have chosen to include a unique Celtic tradition called a Handfasting. You write promises you wish to state to each other (or, I can suggest a script) and I will ask you to say them during the ceremony. Using a braided cord, which I provide, I gently wrap your joined hands together after each promise.

I really love performing weddings!

Beth Koehler officiating a wedding with bride and groomMy weddings have been in unique settings, beaches, backyards, public parks. There have been anywhere from 6 to 150 people present. Every one has been different and very special.

As a notary public in Maine, I am allowed to perform weddings. For a fee, in Massachusetts, I can request an “Officiate for a day” license and in New Hampshire, using my notary paperwork, I can request a specific license for your ceremony.

My fee is $250. This includes writing the personalized story, helping with vows, the script of the ceremony and the braided cord if necessary. If your rehearsal is directly before the wedding, there is no additional fee for the rehearsal. If you would like me present at your rehearsal the day before, there is an additional $50 fee.

I ask for a $50 deposit which you can pay  below. Once I receive the deposit, I will send you a sample ceremony that we will go over together. You can add, subtract or change any part of it.

Beth is so personable and caring. She took the time to sit down with my daughter and son-in -law so she knew a little bit about them and their relationship. She brought this to the ceremony in such a heartfelt and lovely way. My 87 year old mother said it was the nicest wedding she had ever been to.

My wife and I had Beth officiate at our wedding and we couldn’t be happier. Beth was fun and a great listener who really understood our vision. Her grace, presents, and warm loving heart helped us to be present for our big day. Beth held the container and brought everyone into one loving heart space to witness our special day. I would recommend Beth to everyone!

Beth very literally saved my wedding! I was originally under contract with another officiant who was turning into a nightmare. One conversation with Beth and I knew I found my angel! She was the exact blend of energetic, kind-hearted, calm, light-being I was looking for to set the tone for and lead my ceremony. She listened to us and worked with us to develop the exact ceremony we wanted, guided us to the perfect decisions, and supported us every step of the way. She maintained a reverent sacredness during our ceremony while also remaining warm and welcoming to all of our guests.

Beth is an accomplished speaker and very knowledgeable about different ceremony selections. Seven years later and I am still asked about our ceremony and specifically about Beth. By selecting Beth as your officiant, you will enjoy a stress-free, joyful ceremony planning experience, and a very memorable ceremony. For the most important day of your life, Beth is by far the best officiant you could choose.
